I Dug to the Ship

I dug through 1999 and seven.  I cleared to the far back of the aforementioned game closet.   In the low bit of storage under the bottom four stairs is a full box of ship, which, years on end, remained tightly sealed because, well, because it smells like ship.

I speak literally of a sailing vessel.

Behind the boxes of games-behind classic "Operation" and "Operation Hulk" near the box of ship, I found them.  I found a mound of napkins upon which there are notes!

My daughter came home from school and asked why I was okay leaving a small pile of trash on the floor in "my office," which is a small desk in an alcove of windows in our house (my husband speaks of this architectural area as "the bump out).

Am I okay with the pile of trash in the bump out?
I am elated.
So much so, I have relocated them from the floor to a wide glass stand labeled "dessert."

There they are in an airy pile off the floor ready to be chosen, one by one, and sent!

  1. Not sure if you will remember me old friend but I loved reading your words then and now.

  2. Friend!! Remember?! I still feel bad for crying my eyes out in your office at 40--I'm sure the work you had to do that night was overwhelming. You were so giving to let me pour out my heart. I still thank you! Your ancient blue book *Ester* is with me, (the one you gave me after that). I know I've had it around twelve years, I certainly had enough time to learn how to read French. nope. I love you girl. So happy to "see" you!
